NetEnt has remained one of the most-popular slots developers for years. They've created many hits, including Arabian Nights, Blood Suckers, Dead or Alive, Gonzo's Quest, and Starburst.
Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior was set to become NetEnt's latest smash hit. This slot, which revolves around Capcom's Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior video game, offers revolutionary features.
Oddly enough, though, NetEnt has now pulled Street Fighter 2 off the market. Online casinos are no longer able to carry this slot any longer. I'm going to discuss why NetEnt made this curious decision along with if the game will be back.
What Is Street Fighter 2 Slot?
Street Fighter (aka Fighting Street, ファイティング・ストリート) is a video game published in 1989 on DOS by Capcom U.S.A., Inc. It's an action game, set in an arcade, fighting, martial arts and versus fighting themes, and was also released on Commodore 64, Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST and TurboGrafx CD. The same principle applies to kicks as do to punches; a 'Short', done with the B button, is the quickest but also the weakest. A 'Forward', done with A, is medium in both strength and quickness; and a 'Roundhouse', done with R, is slowest to pull off but is the strongest kick move. Fortnite is officially getting some sort of Street Fighter crossover. Season 5 has been rife with new crossovers from cinema and gaming history, including Tron, the Predator, Master Chief, and more. Capcom has released a full-length CG trailer for Street Fighter V, featuring all 16 characters in the game's initial roster. The trailer hints at the roles each fighter plays in the story of Street Fighter V, including Ryu, Ken, Charlie, Bison, and more. Street Fighter V comes to PC and PlayStation 4.
Street Fighter 2 is an online slot that features a 5×5 grid. Every round begins with 25 symbols dropping down to fill out the grid.
You form winning combinations by landing 4+ matching symbols in a horizontal or vertical cluster. Symbols from winning combinations disappear, thus allowing icons from above to fall into their vacant spots (a.k.a. avalanche wins).
The graphics in this slot are definitely a highlight. NetEnt fashioned the graphics to look just like the 1991 arcade game.
You can choose one of eight characters when playing. Your character will fight a challenger while the game is raging on.
Each chosen character influences which random features are available. For example, Chun Li can deliver between two and seven wild symbols. Another example involves E. Honda, who can place three wilds in the same reel.
Standard bets range from €0.20 and €700. The default RTP varies between 96.02% and 96.08%, depending upon which character you choose.
You can increase the RTR up to 98.7% when using 'Insert Coin.' The latter lets you gamble after losing to a 'boss' during free spins.
Insert Coin requires you to gamble part of your bonus winnings. The main benefit is that you have a stronger change to win money with the 98.7% RTP.
As for free spins, you activate this bonus when your selected fighter wins their bout. Your goal is to keep advancing through the ranks by defeating bosses and earning a bigger win multiplier.
You start by fighting Balrog (Level 1) and benefiting from a 2x win multiplier. M. Bison, who offers a 10x multiplier, serves as the final boss at Level 4.
Overall, Street Fighter 2 is one of the most-detailed slots I've ever seen. It boasts outstanding features and a unique level-up mechanism during the bonus.
It also provides interesting options beyond the standard bets. You can use Insert Coin to gamble part of your winnings following any losing boss fight.
NetEnt Takes Street Fighter 2 off the Market
I firmly believe that Street Fighter 2 was set to become a classic hit. It features several hallmarks of a great slot, including a famous theme, retro graphics, multiple bonuses, and uniqueness.
However, NetEnt has made the puzzling decision to pull Street Fighter II out of casinos. This game only lasted one week before it disappeared from the gaming world.
The Swedish developer cited 'internal concerns' related to responsible gaming. They indicated that gamblers' 'staking behavior' has something to do with the matter.
That said, Street Fighter hasn't vanished due to a glitch or other programming issue. It simply creates concerns over how players might bet irresponsibly.
At the time of this writing, you can still play Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior on NetEnt's website. They offer a free demo version of the game. However, you can't currently play it for real money at online casinos.
Leaked Email Explains the Odd Decision
A leaked email has been circulating that explains NetEnt's decision to take Street Fighter off the market. Victor Melander, the company's Head of Communication, notes that the developer wants to complete an internal investigation regarding the game.
We have identified a potential situation whereby player staking behavior could impact the intended gameplay experience on our recent release Street Fighter™️ II: The World Warrior Slot,' Melander notes.
'Please be assured that to date the game has been performing within the expected parameters in respect to the certified math model and RTP on a network level.'
Melander goes on to state that Street Fighter has indeed been disabled at all casinos. In the meanwhile, NetEnt will work on fixing the staking problem that has the company worried.
The email never specifically mentions what aspect could negatively affect players' staking behavior. However, I imagine that the issue derives from two aspects:
- The €700 maximum bet
- Insert Coin, which lets you gamble bonus winnings after losing to a boss.
Many slots only let you bet up to €100 or €200. Therefore, Street Fighter offers an enormous maximum wager at €700.
Additionally, the average game doesn't let you risk winnings from free spins. You're normally only able to gamble regular payouts (if applicable).
NetEnt does give you the opportunity to wager bonus payouts. Considering that you don't trigger the feature often, you're taking on considerable risk by using Insert Coin.
Gaming World Loses a Great Slot
Street Fighter 2 was hotly anticipated long before its release. After all, it's modeled after one of the most-successful arcade and Super Nintendo games of all time.
Those who eagerly awaited Street Fighter's release weren't disappointed. This slot more than exceeds expectations due to its quality graphics and features.
Assuming you're a fan of the video game, then you'll no doubt like Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior. You can even appreciate this slot if you haven't played the video/arcade game.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to gamble real money when playing Street Fighter. As mentioned before, it's no longer available in online casinos.
NetEnt apparently doesn't feel comfortable offering the slot in its current form. Since launching in 1996, they've always been one of the most-reputable developers.
NetEnt has achieved licensing in many gaming jurisdictions across the world thanks to its reputation. No limit bookmakers. Therefore, they'd never want to do something that could jeopardize their standing with licensing jurisdictions or customers.
This developer believes that Street Fighter 2's unique staking aspects currently aren't suited for gamblers. So, they made the responsible decision to disable the real-money version.
Will Street Fighter 2 Be Back?
You might be sad that you can't currently play Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior for real money. But the good news is that you may be able to enjoy it in the future.
Melander mentions as much in the leaked email:
'Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused, and rest assured we are working hard to get this game back up and running for you as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding, and should you require any further information please reach out to your Account Manager.'
No timetable is offered for when Street Fighter 2 will be up and running. The good news, though, is that everything sounds optimistic regarding the game coming back.
For now, you can visit NetEnt's website and play a demo version. You may not get the same thrills when playing Street Fighter 2 for free, but you can at least see what it's all about.
I have no idea on when the real-money game will be back. I'm guessing that NetEnt will have the issue fixed within 2-3 months at the latest.
Conclusion
Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior offers the promise of being one of NetEnt's greatest slots yet. That's saying something when considering their lengthy history of success.
Unfortunately, a staking issue forced NetEnt to pull their prized game out of online casinos. You can only play the demo version at their website for now.
This developer is currently working on the issue to make for a more-responsible staking model. Therefore, you should be able to play Street Fighter 2 slot for real money within the near future.

Street Fighter Computer
Today during the Street Fighter 5 Winter Update, Capcom showcased how Rose would play in the game when she's released. A number of Rose's past attacks would be in this game as well, including her Soul Satellite, Soul Spiral, and some old moves will have new spins on them including her receiving an air fireball.
Rose is heavily based around zoning with her moves, setting up traps and pressure with her specials. She appears to be a character who can dance around the screen with her moves, making traversing through her defenses a costly and treacherous ordeal. She will also come alongside a new stage Marina of Fortune, which is a refined version of the stage which appeared in Street Fighter Alpha 2.
Rose will no longer have her Soul Throw move, which is being replaced by an attack where she throws her scarf into the air, which is called Soul Bind. It also looks like Rose's standing medium kick attack from Street Fighter 4 is returning, as this enabled her to go above low attacks. Her Soul Piede, which is a long range kick performed by pressing Toward + Heavy Kick also is returning.
Overall, Rose has a mixture of past moves that have been recreated, along with some brand new attacks. From the animations alone, it's very clear that she no longer has the extremely long range kicks she previously enjoyed in the prior Street Fighter titles.
To make up for this though, it seems like Capcom gave her things like an improved Standing Heavy Punch, where the scarf looks to have excellent range. This attack is now called the Soul Breeze.
Rose's slide (Down-Toward + Medium Kick) is back and 'in good shape,' plus the developers said it works well in conjunction with her V-Skills and V-Triggers.
Her Soul Spark (fireball) returns and can be used how it was traditionally, but she can also now perform this special in the air. The strength of the button pressed will control the angle at which this projectile comes out, when used while airborne.
A brand new attack is her Soul Punish, which is a stationary fireball trap she puts on screen that explodes after a period of time.
Rose's V-Skill 1 has her pull a Tarot Card, to increase various attributes of hers — or make the opponent weaker. In one of the examples shown, Rose is able to pull a Tarot Card and fill up her V-Gauge slowly. Her V-Skill 2 is her Soul Satellite which was previously her Ultra 2 in the Street Fighter 4 series. Her V-Skill 2 makes Orbs float around her body, which she can use for defense, or to spin into the opponent for combos and things. She can have a maximum of two V-Skill Orbs on her body at one time.
Both of Rose's V-Triggers are currently two bars. Her V-Trigger 1 is a time-based warp move, where Rose can appear on various spots on screen, including mid-air. Her V-Trigger 2 is the Soul Illusion, which was very popular back in the Alpha days, and it's most akin to Yun's Genei Jin, where a shadow follows her movements and attacks alongside her for big damage.

Rose's origins and history
Rose made her debut in Street Fighter Alpha back in 1995. She would appear in the other future Alpha games (Zero in Japan), along with Street Fighter 4 in 2009, as one of the initially console exclusive characters on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

She's often been based around attacks with her scarf, which she channels her Soul Power into. Soul Power is the opposite of Psycho Power, which M. Bison uses. Rose is constantly on the hunt to track down and end Bison, but also actively seeks to aid Ryu in his battle. Exacta trifecta superfecta chart. She's rumored to be in a romantic relationship with Guy from the Final Fight series.
The fortune teller is heavily based off of Lisa Lisa from the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise. Rose hails from Venice, Italy, which is the same city that Joseph Joestar originally encounters Lisa Lisa. The name itself Lisa Lisa comes from the American singer who rose to prominence in the 1980s with hits like 'Skip to My Lu' and 'When I Fell in Love'.

Menat is the apprentice of Rose, where she made her first appearance in the Street Fighter franchise back in 2017 in the fifth entry in the series. Rose has heavy ties to the some key elements of Street Fighter 5's story, and will likely help clarify G's role as a boss character in the game, when her story mode is available.
During today's showcase, it was stated all of the things shown were based on a build recorded back in December, maybe as much as two months ago. As such, many things could change between now and when this content is actually released.
